This article will walk you through setting up the Domain Name System (DNS) Role on a Windows Server 2012. Domain Name System (DNS) has been a staple of Windows-based networks since Microsoft integrated it into Windows 2000 Server. To setup and configure DNS, one must install the DNS Server Role on Windows Server 2012.

Install DNS Server Role in Server 2012

To add a new role to Windows Server 2012,  Start Server Manager, select Add Roles and Features.


Click Next


Select Role-based or feature-based installation option and click on Next.


Here you need to select the desired server, where like to install DNS Server.


From Server Roles lists select DNS server and click on Next.

Click next


if you need features to check box, Then click next


Just click next button.


Check the restart box if the required server will automatically restart.


When you check restart box, display this message, Click Yes.


Just click on Install

Installation Successfully complete. click on close

Right click on the listed server, click on DNS Manager to manage the DNS Server
