In previous tutorials how to add a vSphere Server to Veeam backup and replication. As you know, after the introduction of vSphere Server, the next important step is to create Job Backup. In this tutorial, we will talk about how to build Job for Backup and different Job settings.
Build Backup Job in Veeam Backup & Replication to back up virtual machines
First select Backup Job from the Home tab.
Water Backup Jobs 1In the New Backup Job window, specify a name and descriptor.
Next, click the Add button to specify the virtual machines that the Job supports. In the Add Object window, there are a list of vCenters and ESXi introduced to Veeam Backup and Replication. By expanding the cascading menu, you can see the list of virtual machines in them. For example, in this tutorial, I add the VMware vCenter Server Appliance Website virtual machine from ESXi to the Job with 192.168.16.160 IP.
Click Add to add the virtual machine. Click Next.
When Veeam Backup & Replication is installed, a default Backup Repository will automatically be created. In this section, you can specify whether Backup is copied to this default Repository or that it is supposed to be used from Storage or another path.
Retention Policy specifies the maximum amount of Restore Point that is stored in the Backup file. For example, if you select the default number 14, it means that after 14 times the Job is executed, the oldest backup will be erased and the latest Restore Point will be replaced. This is very useful for spaces that are lacking in space.
- In the Advanced section, you can set a lot of settings for the job. One of the most useful of these configurations is Compression, Deduplication, and Block Size.
At Guest Processing, there's a lot of interesting features about the virtual machine operating system that comes with Backup. For example, if you configure and enable the Guest file system indexing option, it will be possible to search and restore it by Veeam if one of the files inside the operating system virtual machine is deleted.
In the Schedule section, there are different settings for running Auto Backup Job. For example, the Daily at this time option will allow Job to be executed on a specified day and on a specified hourly basis.
Retry failed VMs processing means the number of retries to run Job at a time when the VM is not processed for any reason. Wait before every retry attempt for a while, after any unsuccessful attempt, there must be a delay to run again.
Click Apply. A summary of Job settings will be displayed. If you would like to run this Job once after clicking on Finish, run the job when I click Finish and click Finish.
By clicking on the Job name, you can ensure that it is successful.
In the future, how to restore Restore, we will learn how to run backups on the VMGate website.
